NAWOJ Donates To Physically Challenged

In the spirit of the New Year celebration, the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kaduna State chapter, has donated items worth thousands of naira to the Bethorey Home as well as the Gambo Sawaba General Hospital Zaria. The items donated include toiletries, food items and beverages.

Speaking during the visit, the chairperson of the association, Hajiya Farida Abubakar, said that the donation was to give the physically challenged persons a sense of belonging especially during festive period and to also sensitise the public on the need to assist the less privileged persons in the society.

She called on government, non governmental organisations and wealthy individuals to contribute their quota in providing succour to the needy, while she emphasised the need to build more of such homes to reduce the suffering of the physically challenged persons.

At the Vascular Vagina Fistula (VVF) centre at the Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, the chairperson called on women to always present their health problems to medical experts for proper counselling, investigation and medical attention.

In their separate responses, the chairman and a member of the Board of Trustees of Bethorey Home, Malam Mohammed Jibo and Mohammed Balarabe as well as the doctor in charge of Gambo Sawaba hospital, Dr Ado Zakari, commended the efforts of the association and called on others to emulate its kind gesture.
