Olusola Saraki: Ekweremadu, Senate, Mourn

Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has described late Dr. Olusola Sakari as a grave loss to the nation and the exit of a people’s democrat.

In a statement by his Special Adviser, Media, Uche Anichukwu, Senator Ekweremadu the Second Republic Senate Leader and the late politician was a people-centred leader, noting that Dr. Saraki “lived for the people, politicked for the people, and was totally and consistently committed to the people”.

He condoled with the people of Kwara and Sakari’s family over the grievous loss, urging the political class to emulate his brand of politics by directly and positively impacting the lives of the people.

The Deputy President of the Senate also prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the former Senate Leader.

Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma- Egba, Wednesday said that with the death of Second Republic. Senate Leader, Senator Olusola Abubakar Saraki, an era in the nation’s political history has gone.

According to the Leader, “A chapter in the history of Nigerian politics closed with the death, Wednesday, of the death of Senator Olusola Abubakar Saraki. Nigeria has lost a wealth of political experience with the passage of a great tactician and politician.

“In his time, he was a consummate party man who never deviated from the tenets of his party and was able to galvanize his colleagues to achieving the goals of the NPN in the Second Republic Senate.

“Senator Saraki was an enigma to so many people and it is a testament to the way he practised his politics such that he was able to endear himself to his kinsmen. His political sagacity produced governor after governor in Kwara State.

“He was a man of the people.

The senate has described the late second Republic Senate leader, Dr. Olusola Saraki as a politician who represented in all its ramifications what a grass roots politician ought to be.

In a text message to Vanguard, Chairman, Senate Committee on Information, Media and Publicity, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, PDP, Abia South said he was ” a consummate politician, Senator and a true man of the people. He epitomized what a grass roots political leader should be. Nigeria will miss him.”
