Nigerian international Peter Odemwingie made his full debut for Cardiff City, which he also scored his first goal for the club but his team eventually lost the match in a five-goal thriller in the League Cup game against West Ham United at Upton Park on Tuesday.

The Hammers moved ahead to a two-goal lead with Ravel Morrison and Matty Jarvis just seven minutes into the game, before the Bluebirds netted one back through Craig Noone’s amazing strike right before the half time.

Odemwingie then netted his first goal for his new club with just 15 minutes left to play, but the visitors were left reeling when Ricardo Vaz Te headed a late goal to help his side advance to the fourth round.

Cardiff coach Malky Mackay spoke about the Odemwingie's performance: Malky: "I thought Odemwingie was excellent tonight. He always looked a danger and a threat."

Odemwingie later tweeted: “Happy to score my first goal for Cardiff City. Hope many more to come in the league which is our main objective.”
