Baga Massacre: Jonathan, Borno Governor Meet

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday met with the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Although the agenda of the meeting was not made public, our correspondent learnt that the governor was in the villa to update the President on the incident in Baga.

No fewer than 185 people were said to have been killed during a clash on Saturday between the militant Islamic sect, Boko Haram and the Multinational Joint Task Force in the  Borno State community.

Disturbed by the development, Jonathan had ordered a full-scale investigation into the crisis with a view to ascertaining the circumstances leading to the massacre and identifying the culprits. The President had on Wednesday vowed that those found culpable in the massacre would be dealt with according to the laws of the land.

Shettima attended the meeting with the President with an unidentified aide.

The governor declined comment when State House correspondents approached him after the meeting.
