Satisfacton with President Jonathan's performance has declined

Latest opinion poll revealed that proportion of Nigerians that approve of the President's performance has declined.

Governance Snap Poll conducted by NOIPolls pointed to a decline in the proportion of adult Nigerians that approve of President Goodluck Jonathan’s performance from 55% in October to only 50% in November.

22% of respondents, who were asked  Do you approve of President Jonathan’s performance in the past 1 month?, disapproved of his performance, while 28% were indifferent.

Jonathan received higher ratings in the second half 2013 than in the first half, with the best two ratings up to date in August (57%) and October (55%).

Analysis across geo-political zones showed that the South-East zone (74%) accounts for the largest proportion of respondents that approve of the President’s performance. The North-West and the South-South zones with 26% each, account for the largest proportion of respondents that disapprove of the President’s performance in the month of November.

As to the performance of the current administration (the Executive Cabinet; Ministers and State Governors), 45% of the respondents said they performed averagely, 30% said they performed well and  25% thought aid the administration performed poorly.

Thus, the poll revealed a 3-point decline in the proportion of Nigerians that approve of the performance of the current administration from October (33%).

Furthermore, the analysis pointed to the lowest power supply rating in eleven months. Majority of the respondents (33%) say the power situation in Nigeria over the past one month “remains bad”, 25% affirmed “there is no difference at all” and 23% confirmed that it “has improved a little”.  For 16% of the respondents the situation is “very bad and has gone worse”, and only for 3% “it has improved very much”.

The opinion poll was conducted by NOIPolls between November 25 and 27, 2013. It involved telephone interviews of one thousand randomly selected Nigerians aged 18 years and above, representing the six geopolitical zones in the country.
