APC holds a National Summit in Abuja to unveil its manifesto.

The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently unveiling its manifesto at the party’s National Summit at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

The APC has unveiled the its code of ethics, a set of rules governing the party’s activities.

The party said its mission is to make Nigeria achieve its full potential. It promised to work towards a nation that is economically and socially vibrant, peaceful, just and secure.

The APC also listed its ten principle commitments to the Nigerian people.

The party commits to protect and preserve human life and dignity and uphold a Nigeria bound by the principle of freedom, justice, peace, unity and the rule of law.

It promises to pursue its objective of increasing economic opportunity for all citizens, social welfare and progress through a government led and private sector driven economy.

In attendance are Atiku Abubakar, Kwara state governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, Rivers state governor Rotimi Amaechi, Sokoto stare governor  Magatakarda Wamakko, Nasarawa state governor Tanko Al-makura, former governor of Lagos state Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Adamawa state governor Murtala Nyako, among others.

All of the governors have had an opportunity to say a short welcoming speech.

Governor of Lagos state Babatunde Fashola, while delivering his opening remark at the commencement of the event, said that no party in Nigeria had done what the party is doing today.

Fashola said that the set of principles being unveiled today differentiates the party from the others and must remain the party’s road map in the future.

The Edo state governor Adams Oshiomhole said that the PDP "promised to fix power in 1999" but failed.

General Muhammadu Buhari said that if the opposition had not come together like they did when the APC was formed, the PDP would have dealt with the opposition members individually and destroyed them. 

Tinubu said that Nigeria should be the locomotive of manufacturing, promoting job creations for Nigerians.

Ogbonnaya Onu, the former governor of Abia state, on his part said that the APC is an idea whose time is now, noting that since the registration of the APC as a party on July 31, 2013, it had been constantly growing.
