President Gooluck Jonathan is leaving for Davos, Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum

President Goodluck Jonathan is leaving for Davos, Switzerland on Tuesday to attend the 44thWorld Economic Forum that will take place from 22 to 25 January.

This information is contained in a press statement issued today by the President's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati. 

In Davos, Jonathan will try to attract beneficial global participation in this year’s World Economic Forum on Africa which will be hosted by Nigeria from May 7-9 in Abuja.

Jonathan will be accompanied by key members of the Federal Government’s Economic Management Team from the public and private sectors, and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group.

Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, will co-chair the Forum in Davos.

He is scheduled to host special events aimed at boosting attendance at the upcoming forum in Abuja by the world political and economic leaders.

Among the events is an African meeting and an interactive session with financiers and industrialists, which will seek to promote Nigeria’s economic potentials and attract employment generating investments.

The theme of the Abuja World Economic Forum on Africa – Forging Inclusive Growth, Creating Jobs – reflects the economic priorities of the current administration for 2014. The Forum is expected to bring regional, continental and global leaders together to discuss innovative structural reforms and investments which Nigeria and other African countries can buy into to sustain their economic growth, create more productive jobs for their youthful populations and greater prosperity for all their citizens.
