Islam Does Not Support Terrorism – Sultan Of Sokoto

The 20th Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has denounced the stereotype of seeing all Muslims as terrorists.

At the fourth graduation ceremony of Madarassatul-Hizbu Rahim he stated that Muslims do not support terrorist acts in Nigeria and terrorism as a whole, Funtua, Katsina State. 

In his official statement he stressed that Islam is a religion of peace. It preaches unity, understanding and sympathy towards Muslims and people of other religions.

He said that the faith, Islam or Christianity, should not be taken into consideration when it comes to сrimes; as a criminal is a criminal regardless of his faith. The Sultan once again urged Muslims to join hands to combat hardships of the nation together.

The statement quoted the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, who highlighted the importance of a broad education that includes both religious and western education for the Muslim Ummah.

During the ceremony N4million were donated to the school while the 54 graduates were given clothing materials and N50,000 each.

Earlier in an attempt to answer critics who are of the opinion that elders in the northern part of Nigeria are not doing enough on the issue of terrorism, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has come out to proffer way out to the Boko Haram insurgency.

Also Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has condemned recent bombings at Nyanya in Abuja and abduction of over 200 students by Boko Haram, describing the sect as un-Islamic and devilish on May 7.

Today an Islamic organization, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has rejected, the alleged conversion of the abducted Chibok girls to Islam as "preposterous" and not possible.
