Okada Riders Term New Lagos Traffic Law ‘Ambiguous’

Ahead of the planned enforcement of Lagos Road Traffic Law, okada riders in the state have expressed fears over what they termed the “ambiguity of the law” even as they called on the state government to give a six-month grace of intensive sensitisation for road-users before the enforcement.

It would be recalled that the enforcement of the law has been put on hold pending when it would been gazetted.

The Isheri-Igando branch of okada riders, under the umbrella of Motorcycles Association of Lagos State, MOALS, made the submission at a sensitisation event on new road traffic law and presentation of reflective jackets, sponsored by a social club in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Lagos State Command.

A university graduate- turned-okada rider, Mr. Kehinde Ogunwale, during an interactive session at Igando-New Town Estate Park, chided  the government for not embarking on prompt public enlightenment on the new law till date, particularly as it affects motorists and okada riders.
