Former Nigeria coach and now Nigerian Football Federation member, Christian Chukwu has said that Current coach Stephen Keshi has their full backing and support to perform well in next month's FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The former Green Eagle's captain at the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations win, revealed that the will do their best to ensure the eagle's have a positive outing.

While speaking to Goal journalist, He also asked the players dropped from the 30-man provisional squad to accept it and support their brothers in the mundial.

He said: The problem is that everybody cannot be invited and this doesn’t mean that those that are not invited are not good players, some are even fantastic players but unfortunately there is a limit the coach can invite.

“The preparation is going on well and [the technical department] will follow to the letter the programme of the coach so that we won’t have any hitch and we like to enjoin everybody to pray and support the team henceforth. “Now the list is out, let’s concentrate and let there be no distractions from anywhere so that we can achieve our aim at the World Cup'' He said.

The former Enugu rangers defender also talked about team selection during the mundial, He said: “We have been discussing and he knows that the FIFA World Cup is important than any other person. “If he does well, it means he has sold himself to the world which implies that he can be employed by English Premiership sides or any other big country seeking for him. “For the players also, their performance will sell them after the World Cup.

So, we have told him all we need to tell him and we will continue to advise him so that he will be successful in Brazil,”.

Christian Chukwu had coached the Super Eagles from 2003 till 2005 and was largely blamed for the Eagles not making the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
