MISSING SCHOOLGIRLS: Group Gives President Jonathan 48-Hour Ultimatum

More than a month since no fewer than 276 schoolgirls were kidnapped in Chibok, Borno State, the BringBackOurGirls Campaign Group has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to a statement disclosed during the regular 3pm village square meeting, the group said they want the president to respond to their letter demanding answers to questions raised by the abduction of over 200 Chibok schoolgirls.

The group added that if the president failed to respond to its letter, it would stage a mega protest on Tuesday.

* Former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili

Former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, who was at the meeting on May 15, 2014, Thursday, informed that they would go ahead and mobilise people from all the states as they await response from the president.

Ezekwesili also opined that the group would visit the Chibok community next week in order to sympathise with the people of the community and let them know that Nigerians are still rallying around them until the abducted girls were released.

Jibrin Jibom, the head of mobilisation of the group, emphasised the need for the group to prepare a Citizen Chartered of Demand on not only what should be done in rescuing the girls, but how to correct non-performance of the whole system of government.

He advised President Jonathan to stop listening to those around him who do not have the good of the country at heart.

The group concluded by saying there is no sacrifice too small for the girls and would continue to meet every day until the girls are released.
