Bisi Akande Declares PDP Has No Chances To Stay At Aso Rock

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, made a farewell address at the National convention of the opposition force #1 in Abuja on June 13, 2014, Friday, assured of party’s of victory at the upcoming 2015 general elections.

He noted that the registration of the party nearly one year ago signified the dusk of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its defeat in the race for presidency.

Akande emphasised on inabilities of the Federal Government to tackle insecurity in Nigeria. He recalled times when Nigeria used to send its troops to defend allies and friends, contributed a lot to maintaining the global peace. Currently the situation is being changed drastically. The troops from foreign missions are withdrawn and the country turned into host for foreigners, who were arriving to help Nigeria military to end insurgency and to rescue over 200 Chibok girls from their abductors.

The outgoing chairman condemned labelling the APC and its leaders as sponsors of terrorism. He said that the popularity of the party grows despite such attempts. 

Akande was grateful for support he received from his colleagues at the interim National Executive Committee of the part, urged APC supporters to do the same for the new leadership.

In his speech, the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, paid tribute to the founding fathers of the party. He noted that APC means change and that change must come.

The Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, urged APC supporters to remain vigilant to prevent manipulation during 2015 general elections. He also noted that the ruling party would not let the power go easily.

An ex governor of Abia State, Ogbonnaya Onu, and a former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, reminded about the importance of keeping unity inside the party. In their separate statements they also added that the first trials would begin in the states of Ekiti (June 21, 2014) and Osun (August 9, 2014).

It would be added that a former Governor of Edo State, John Odigie Oyegun, has emerged the first National Chairman of the opposition party during its First National Convention.
