Why Buhari, Amaechi, Atiku & Others Are To Blame For Insurgency

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has maintained that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are responsible for insurgency in the country.

In a statement issued by its national publicity secretary Olisa Metuh, yesterday, the party accused General Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former FCT Minister Nasir el-Rufai and Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi of making inflammatory utterances against the President Jonathan which has sparked off hatred and attracted insurgents, resulting in the rise of terrorism in the nation.

According to the statement, it is not coincidence that after Buhari called on his supporters to go on lynching spree if he lost 2011 presidential election, an unprecedented violence broke out claiming the lives of many innocent Nigerians.

The party also cited Atiku's statement on the 14th of December 2010, when he said, "those who make peaceful change impossible make violent change inevitable."

Also collaborating Atiku’s statement, one of his close associates, Alhaji  Lawal Kaita while rejecting the emergence of a  President from the South, had in October 2010 said, "the North is determined, if it happens, to make the country ungovernable for President Jonathan or any other Southerner who finds his way to the seat of power. Even if he uses incumbency power to get his nomination on the platform of the PDP, he would be frustrated out."

Pointing accusing fingers on Malam Nasir  El-Rufai, the statement said El-Rufai had on the 23rd of January 2014 said the next elections would be bloody and many people are likely to die, adding that the only alternative left to get power is to take it by force.

Indicting Gover Amaechi of Rivers State, the PDP said, “We were not surprised when Governor, Rotimi Amaechi now a leader in the APC, in inciting his followers recently said, ‘I came to Bori to prove to you that you don’t need to run away from violence. If a man is chasing you with AK-47, you should carry achine gun and the man will call for peace.’"

The PDP had earlier released a statement accusing the APC  for the Abuja Bomb blast on Monday which killed scores of people and injured about 200.
