Man Boils And Eats His Own Hip Bone As It Was Removed After Operation

A Norwegian young man Alexander Selvik Wengshoel cooked and ate his own hip bone.

The 25-year-old man who describes himself as a conceptual artists says that initially he wanted to use his bone in his art but than this crazy idea appeared.

Alexander underwent the metal hip replacement operation aged 21 and was allowed to take his bone home as souvenir.

When he got home he decided to cook some meat, he first boiled the bone and then fried the meat which came off.

"It's not every day I will have a piece of human flesh which is mine and which it is possible to eat. First I just had a little taster, but since it tasted good, I made it a full dinner of it. It was a very exciting and stimulating. It was so personal."

When asked about the taste of the meat he said that it was like wild sheep. Now his bone is exhibited as part of his work at the Tromsø Academy of Contemporary Art.

Wengshoel was born without a functioning hip, he underwent a series of failed operations and endured years in a wheelchair or on crutches.
