Adamawa Govt Imposes Indefinite Ban On

Government of Adamawa has imposed an indefinite ban on the work of football viewing centres in the state.

According to statement released by Director Press and Public Affairs to Gov Murtala Nyako, Ahmad Sajoh, this was made for security reasons following the advice by the Nigerian military.

Punch reports with reference to NAN that the state authorities regretted the inconvenience caused to football fans and centres owners.

It would be recalled that last Sunday the local bar in Mubi was rocked by a ghastly explosion, which claimed scores of lives. Meanwhile this happened in the course of military presence in the state, as the National Assembly has recently extended the emergency rule in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.

A viewing centre in Jos, Plateau State capital, also became target of bombing on May 24, when a lot of people came to watch the final match of UEFA Champions League.

Now most football fans in Adamawa will be deprived of the opportunity to watch 2014 FIFA World Cup kicking off on June 12, and support the Super Eagles playing their first game against Iran on June 16.
